Meet Ripple / Steven
Layered and
Flowing.
Poke it. Now squish harder.

Ripple needs WebGPU, and this browser or device doesn't offer it. It runs in current Chrome and Edge, and in Safari and Firefox where WebGPU is switched on.
The simple version plays the same loop without a GPU, and the science reads explain the physics.
About this specimen
Meet Ripple.
Smooth and unbothered, until you drag through it. Each line is a slice through a stretched skin. Its height is three smooth pulses added together as they circle round.
It shows superposition (waves adding up), not a solved wave equation: the pulses follow a set path, so at normal speed the loop repeats exactly every 8 seconds. Drag across the lines to pull the skin up. Keep holding to stretch it further. Change the speed and line width, pick a flavour, or nudge it and watch the ridges relax.
